Making a stranger's day

I was DRAGGING this morning...I mean seriously, lifting my arm up took every ounce of energy I had...I really don't know how I made it into work. Anyway, as I was SLOWLY walking to work I passed by a lady and she said "That is a cute belly you have". It made me smile and even pick up my pace a little :-). Just a reminder that a small gesture can really make someone's day ;-)

Baby Shower

My sister threw me the cutest baby shower on Saturday...jungle theme. I'm so grateful to everyone who came to help us celebrate our soon-to-arrive little boy and it was great relaxing with everyone. Thank you so much to my sis for throwing it, my mom for hosting it at her house and my sister's mother in law for the darling cupcakes. I'm so glad we made it to the shower with this little guy still in my belly!

This week's baby update

I had a doctor appt. yesterday and it went better than both the doctor and I expected (she said she thought she was going to be putting me on bed rest). She likes how the past couple of tests results have looked so she said we'll keep on truckin and she thinks we can keep this little guy in here for at least a couple more weeks (YEY!!!). She's still keeping a close eye on his belly measurements in case they go down or don't improve (then she would induce), but she's optimistic at this point as long as I keep on being good and staying off my feet as much as possible (she really believes he's responded well to this). My blood pressure was high one day this week which concerned them, but it came back down the next day so no worries there (although she's was baffled by the spike b/c mine is always low). Thank you, thank you, thank you again for all the prayers!

Who needs a bed?!

This is how we've found McKayla periodically awhile after putting her to bed...sometimes it takes me a minute to even find her because she blends in with her stuffed animals :-)

(the flash made it look like the lights were on, but she was laying in the dark)

Baby Boy Update

All the prayers are working! Our NSTs and ultrasound went well this week and our little guy's numbers are actually doing better. He's still measuring small, but my family makes small babies so it's not like we're expecting an 8 pounder or something. He seems to be reacting well to the rest my doctor has put me on so we will continue with that and with some nice, fattening milkshakes and hope that he stays in for at least a couple more weeks (I'll be 36 weeks on Tuesday). If he doesn't come on his own by around 38/39 weeks then my doctor will induce me (I'm hoping I just go naturally). We are so grateful for the better news this week!!! Thank you so much again for all of the prayers and well wishes!

McKayla 2 yr. appt.

McKayla reached the 10th percentile today...YAY :-). She is 23 lbs. and 32 inches and the doctor is very pleased with how she's growing and her development. She was very impressed with how McKayla reacted to everything today and how she let her do all her check-up without a fight. McKayla got her last immunization shot (until she's 5) and her flu shot so she's all ready to go. Since the baby is coming at any point now she told us to just hold off on fully potty training because there's no time now...so we'll do that while I'm on maternity leave. So glad our little girl is healthy and growing :-)

Baby Update

Last Friday we had an ultrasound to check on our little guy and make sure he wasn't having any of the issues we had with McKayla. Unfortunately, they found that his belly is measuring small which means there's asymettry and the umbilical cord fluid isn't flowing as well as it should be. I went to my doctor today and she agreed with their finidngs and thinks it's a placenta problem again (this is rare and we weren't expecting it to happen again). She is going to have me see her every week and do stress tests every week to keep an eye on the baby. We'll also do another ultrasound next week. She is allowing me to continue working for now, but I'm not allowed to do anything once I get home and if his numbers drop more then she is going to pull back on my activity more. His numbers look better than McKayla's did at this point, but it's more scary to me this time in one way becuase I'm not as naive to what is happening. There is a VERY high likelyhood that I could go as early at 36-37 weeks again so I'm just hoping we can keep this little guy in here and growing until October...but I don't know that we will. My doctor also said I went very fast last time once I began labor so if I start contracting I need to get to her ASAP. Any prayers are much appreciated and we will keep you all updated...until then I'm off to get a milkshake for my little man :-)

McKayla's 2nd Birthday Party

We had friends and family over for McKayla's 2nd birthday party on Sunday. We were so happy to find out that Todd's parents were in town and able to make the party as well :-). We did a Hello Kitty theme and just hung out in the backyard. McKayla had a lot of fun and the kiddos had a great time playing with all the new presents. The cake/cupcakes turned out really cute and McKayla thoroughly enjoyed hers (sugar rush!). We really appreciate all the love that our friends and family bring to our little girl and us!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday McKayla!

Our amazing, wonderful, beautiful, loving McKayla turned 2 today!!! We can't believe how much she's grown and what a little "person" she is rather than a baby. We love her more than words could ever express and she has made the past 2 years of our life so amazing and fun. She came running into our room this morning and I asked "Is it your birthday??". She replied "YES" so I asked her how old she was and she said "2" very excitedly while holding up her hand to show me. She got a chocolate muffin for breakfast with 2 candles that she blew out all by herself and lots of hugs and kisses from mommy and daddy. She wore her birthday girl shirt to school and took cupcakes to her class. She and Todd spent the evening together (I unfortunately had to work really late)...he took her to dinner at Paradise Cafe, they played at home and she got a cupcake in the evening with another candle to blow out. We are going to have a party for her this Sunday with friends and family :-). She's opened a few gifts...a computer and leapord pjs from YaYa and Papu (Nick's parents) and a book and sticker book from her friends Raley and Lilly. We are going to have her open the rest of her gifts at her party :-). Thank you to everyone who sent her birthday wishes...we made sure to read them/let her listen to them!

Still waking up, but happy to have her muffin and candles
