Weekend festivities

It was a gloomy weekend in regards to weather, but we made the most of it cuddling up in front of the fireplace and running through the rain when we had to go outside. Our nieces came over Friday night and the kids were absolutely delighted to see and play with them. On Saturday, we went to my sister's for a party where they got to see another cousin and Todd's sister Michelle. They also had an absolute blast playing with Uncle Nick in his man cave. On Sunday, after church and Sunday school (and Todd boarding with friends) we went bowling with friends and it was so fun to just chill and catch up. I didn't mind the weekend rain b/c we did some fun indoor stuff, but I have to say waking up to snow in our yard and 40 degrees this morning was a bit shocking...definitley ready for the warm weather and sunshine to come back.

Rope Swing

McKayla and Todd have been climbing the rope swing together and at first it was tough for McKayla, but after only a few days she made it all the way to the top on her own. TJ was pretty proud of his strong little girl :-)

Easter 2014

We kicked off Easter weekend by coloring eggs with my parents on Saturday. On Sunday, we woke the kids up early so they could do their Easter baskets with Todd before he left for work. The kids were very excited to see some unexpected treats from the Easter Bunny and Bodie was thrilled to see M&Ms (his favorite just like Todd). After looking through baskets we went to church with my parents where we had a great mass and then a fun easter egg hunt. From there, the kids and I went up to Snowbird to eat brunch at Todd's place...SO yummy! After some much needed naps, Todd surprised us and got home in time to go to my parents for Easter dinner and another egg hunt. Easter is definitely one of my favorite holidays for many reasons and I feel blessed that I get to spend the day with such a wonderful family. I love watching the excitment in the kid's eyes too...while singing at church, hunting for eggs or choosing whatever thye want at brunch. This year, I also had a huge momma moment in church...Bodie was tired from waking up so early so he crawled into my arms, curled up like a baby and stuck his thumb in his mouth while he snuggled into me (he has never been a thumb sucker...didn't do a binkie either). I absolutely melted....and took in every single second of my big boy in my arms.

Lent

As the season of Lent is coming to an end, I can honestly say this Lent has been the most meaningful to me. It's not that others haven't been, but this year I really took the time to think about life/where it started/what part I should be playing. I have been very blessed and although I say thank you in my prayers and try to live my life in a good way, there is always room for improvement.
So yes, I did give something up this year and I did stick to it. It was more than that though. Jesus gave his life for us and the Lord has blessed us and guided us through good times and bad. I felt like it was time to really work on me and being the best person I can be (daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, ect). This definitely means taking inventory, hard work and set backs, but in the way the Lord works for me, I want to do the same for him and show my appreciation. This is a lifelong process and I know I will never be perfect, but for now I do feel like I have a better picture of who I should be and what is important (and I also know that this will change through the years, but there's always a core to who you are). I've worked very hard the past two months and I'm proud of my progress...and I'm excited to live the future...day by day. I'm excited to continue teaching my children with the Lord's help and excited to give back to life...appreciate life...and live life in a positive way. If you really think about life and how incredibly precious it is, it is such a miracle. There's no going back, no rewind....life is what you make it today and now so why not make it the best you can. Happy Easter everyone!

Johnson Fam Time

We got some fun Johnson fam time this weekend when Todd's parents came into town for our nephew's blessing and spring break. We were with the whole family on Sunday (I can't tell you how much I love watching the kids with their cousins) and then Todd's parents satyed with us Monday so we went to City Creek for dinner and walked around the temple grounds to see the pretty spring flowers. The kids were SO exicted to have Grandma and Papa come stay for a night and Bodie kept asking if we could just drive on over to their house the next day...I wish buddy, I wish :-).

Putting up a rope swing out front...new neighborhood hit :-)
