McKayla 1 Year Photos
Here are a few pictures from McKayla's 1 yr. photo shoot. She was such a good girl and it was so much fun to watch her play and have a good time. I can't believe our baby girl is going to be 1 in just 2 weeks! She is the absolute love and joy of our lives and she makes us feel so blessed every day. BTW- The Pink Teddy Bear is significant b/c it was her first teddy bear and was given to her by her Great G&G Koenig...she sleeps with it every night.

Baby 50
This one is easy. I could talk about my baby all day long (as evidenced by this blog). I encourage all mommy's to do it...it will make you smile!
She looks like her daddy, but has mommy's eyes
She has blondish hair, blue eyes
She has really long eyelashes
She likes to grab your face, especially your mouth
She loves her soft blankies
She pulls her shoes off
She is ticklish
She shakes her head "no"
She is walking…
when she wants to
She still likes almost all foods
She crawls…
over/under the dog
She likes her toy drum
She likes pulling everything out of anything
She loves exploring
She wakes up once a night for a bottle
She is the happiest baby when she wakes up
She holds the remote up to her ear and talks on it like it's a phone
She really loves doing something we are doing (she gets so proud)
She likes all veggies and fruits
She eats food cold or warm
She doesn't drink more than 5 ounces of formula in one sitting
She needs prune juice, sometimes
She has learned how to make bubbles/spit and thinks it's hilarious
She loves looking through her books
She likes to look out the window and talk to the world
She loves watermelon...
Just like her daddy
She is a good girl in the car and will sing to the music
She is a cuddlebug (I looove this)
She takes 2-3 naps a day
She dances whenever there's music or a beat
She has 5 teeth, all but one on the bottom
She is talking like crazy
She likes to say "uh-oh"
She giggles and laughs all the time
She splashes in the bath
She gets excited to see her mommy and daddy
Especially her daddy when he's acting goofy
She is very expressive with her eyebrows
She will laugh any/every time you go "woof, woof" like the doggy
She has changed my life
She is a blessing
She makes me want to be a better person
She will never know how much I love her
But I will try my best to show her

24 hours of misery!
The horrible, terrible 24 hour flu hit the Johnson home this weekend, YUCK! I saw a posting from our sitter's husband on Thursday that he was home sick with the flu...I thought uh,oh pleeease don't let McKayla get it. Then 4am Friday morning I hear McKayla let out a big cough, then another, and I knew. The poor thing got sick 5 more times by 7:30am and all we could do was hold her and keep her as comfortable as possible. By 8am the Pedialyte was staying down and she just cuddled and slept all day.
By Saturday afternoon Todd and I were feeling ok so I though, YEY, we didn't get the flu. Todd and I headed off to my friends wedding up at Snowbird while Kayla went with Paka & Gigi. Fast forward 1 hour 40 minutes...we've been enjoying catching up with friends, the wedding festivities and then it HIT. I told Todd I didn't feel well and he asked if we needed to go. Luckily, I said "yes". I hated leaving my friends wedding, but trust me, it's a good thing I did. The worst part was we had to drive down the canyon, get the car seat from my parents house and go to another house where my parents and Kayla were having dinner. I was soooo relieved when we finally got home. I quarantined myself to the couch (I had just cleaned and sanitized the whole house that morning) and let the beast take it's course.
Todd was great and took care of the house and McKayla the rest of the weekend. I missed them so much cause I could hear them laughing and playing, but couldn't go near them. He also took care of me...getting me Sprite, making soup, ect. I forgot how bad the flu stinks and I'm so grateful for a wonderful husband!! Only good part, Todd didn't get it ;-)
To the flu...seriously, skip our house next time please. I've had enough of you!!!!

Reseda Ward Reunion
Once upon a time Todd went to the Reseda Ward in California. When we heard they were having a reunion in Utah (many have migrated this way), we decided it would be fun to go. Not too many showed up and it was FREEZING (yes, coats and pants in August and we were still cold) but we had a fun time catching up and watching the kiddos play.
Down the slide w/ Daddy
More from camping
I forgot my camera when we went camping (the pics I posted before were taken on my phone). I just had to have pictures of McKayla's 1st camping trip so I got a disposable camera and finally just got the pictures back. Here they are...
Kayla's 1st time on a boat (don't worry she didn't go out on the water)

1st Family Camping Trip
We took our first camping trip with McKayla this past weekend. We went up to Strawberry Resevior with our good friends Phil & Jess. It took us forever to find a spot, but the spot we found was AWESOME! Todd cooked us up some burgers while Phil cooked some questionable rice and beans (those are his words not mine). The guys got the fire started while Jess and I played with Kayla and the dogs (Sadie & Bosen) ran around in absolute enjoyment.
Kayla loved being outside and exploring the new area. She and I slept in the Tahoe (I have to admit I loved sleeping next to her cause we don't do this at home. I just listened to her sweet, soft breathing all night) and Todd and Sadie froze in the tent (sorry hon). The next day Todd and Phil went sailing on Phil's boat while Jess and I took the dogs and Kayla down by the water to play.
It was a lot of fun and all in all I think McKayla really enjoyed her first camping trip...EXCEPT...when I decided we had to take a picture of her on these little carved log seats the guys found. All was great and she posed for her picture, but I of course decided we needed one more. I had Todd standing by ready to catch her if she fell, but it happened so quick that neither one of us caught her. Down my sweet baby went, face first into the dirt. We scooped her up and her face and mouth were covered with dirt...we felt SOOOOO bad! I felt like the worst mom in the world! She cried for a minute and while we cleaned her up, but she really was a tough little cookie and was happy only a couple minutes later (although she did hold onto us a little tighter). I'm also lucky that she escaped with no bruises, scrapes or cuts. Note to self...think before setting baby up for picture op!

Just before her first fall ever (11 months isn't too bad, right?)
