Little kicks

I've been feeling a few things recently and wondering if it was the little one, but I definitely felt two little flutters this morning...it made me smile :-). Make your gender predictions...we will find out on my birthday, May 26th!

Date Night

Todd was invited to the Pioneer Theatre Gala last Friday through work so we got to have a free date night while McKayla got a night with Paka and Gigi. It was so much fun to dress up all nice and go out together. Dinner was great and then we got to go to the opening of 42nd Street. We loved the musical, but unfortunately only got to see the 1st act because I was dying from "morning sickness". We'll just have to go again :-)

Notice the "bump"?
Family shot before we left

Cousins

Laelia came to visit McKayla for a little while last week and the girls played so well together :-).
I sure do wish we lived closer, but hopefully as they get older we can get them together more.

Message from McKayla

McKayla is very proud to announce that she will be a big sister around

Oct. 12th :-). We will find out gender at the end of May.

Smart Girl

I had McKayla in a dress on Saturday because it was soo nice outside. I checked on her during her nap and noticed she was using a diaper as a pillow...I thought "funny, I don't remember her grabbing that before I put her in"...so I lifted up her little dress and there was a very cute bare bum (luckily I had changed her right before her nap so the diaper wasn't wet). Later that day I again found her without her diaper on. Todd put her down for a little rest later that evening and as I was getting ready to leave for a nice girls night out dinner I hear him yell, "Megan, get in here" from McKayla's room. I already knew...why didn't I put pants on her before we put her down???!!! I walked in and Todd said "I'll get her, you get the crib". So there I was, in my nice clothes, hair and makeup all done, fabulous new perfume on...scrubbing poop off the crib and washing the crib sheets. All we could do is laugh!

It's getting dangerous

Past two weeks:

1. Unloading items from our Tahoe and as I return to the car I see McKayla in the car on the back seat waiving very proud...problem, I didn't leave her there! All I can think about is how lucky we are that she didn't fall backward onto the driveway while trying to get up. Lesson: don't leave car doors open

2. I pulled McKayla's chair off our dining room seat to clean it. As I'm cleaning it I hear "mom" about a million times so I look into the dining room, there's McKayla on all fours on top of the dining room table. She has grabbed the easter egg she wanted and now doesn't know how to get back down. Lesson: keep dining room chairs pushed in

3. I tell McKayla to wait one second before heading up the stairs so I can put the things in my hands down. Next thing I know I see her stand up too quick on the 4th or 5th step and back she goes, flying through the air, head over heals like a rag doll. I couldn't catch her...Lesson: realize this child is now VERY mobile and I need to predict accidents before they happen.

This little girl is so much like her father...curious and daring. She's definitely keeping me on my toes, but she also makes me laugh sooo much. Recently she has started copying me every time I yawn and it's the funniest face ever.

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter (even though it was winter wonderland outside). McKayla came out to the family room and when she saw the Easter baskets she said "Whoa" and ran over to start going through them. We went to church with my parents and they had an indoor Easter Egg hunt after for the kiddos. McKayla started by picking up eggs and putting them in other kids baskets (isn't she so sweet!), but when she found out there was candy inside she would just pick them up and pull them open (I would than grab it and put it in her basket for her so she could get more). She did manage to grab and unwrap one chocolate egg and she was so proud! We went to brunch at Market Street after with my family and Todd's dad...sooooo yummy...McKayla learned how to dip her strawberries in syrup thanks to Daddy and she ate a bunch of Grandpa Johson's breakfast :-). We went to my parents house for dinner and McKayla got another Easter basket and Easter Egg hunt and Sadie got to do an Easter Egg hunt. At the end of the day we were all stuffed, on a sugar overload and so happy to have spent a wonderful day with family :-)
