Up he goes

Bodie has been standing holding onto things for awhile now, but never actually pulled himself all the way up on something with no help...until this morning. I was getting ready and he was trying to get up to me so the little guy just pulled himself right on up. I clapped and cheered him on as any mother would do and he was SO proud :-). Our little guy is really growing up!

Eye Check

The kids went to get their eyes checked yesterday and we got some great news :-). McKayla's eyes are doing great with the glasses and the doctor is very happy with the progress. He told Todd "There's nothing more we need to do at this point, but keep her in her glasses until she goes to school and has to get an eye test." Todd mentioned the McKayla already knew how to read her letters and he said the doctor was shocked (and didn't really believe him). So they got everything out and gave her an eye test...and she did great! She read all the letters perfectly and read down further than they expected.
He checked Bodie's eyes next and said that they are tracking perfect and unless we notice something weird he doesn't need to come back. YEY!!!

McKayla's 3rd Birthday Party

McKayla decided she wanted a Minnie Mouse party for her 3rd birthday. We had to do it a week early due to our crazy schedules, but I didn't think she would mind ;-). She had minnie/mickey ears for her friends as well as a jewelry dress up table, coloring books and a candy table for favors and Mickey Mouse clubhouse music. For food she wanted mickey chicken nuggets w/ dips, chicken salad and rolls, chips&dip, baby carrots, pink lemonade and of course a Minnie Mouse cake. She got to wear a new minnie mouse outfit from us and also got some fun gifts like a new playhouse, pink cowgirl hat, items for her babies (bed, bath, highchair, stroller, diaper bag, ect), art supplies, puzzles, hair kit (dryer, flat iron, comb, scissors, clips, ect) butterfly hopskotch kit and tons of dress up clothes and jewelry. She had such a fun time with her friends and the girls all loved dressing up. We are so gratfeul as always to have wonderful friends and family to share these special days with us!

I've decided to put together a list of all the things I want to do for fall . It's a way of solidifying some of my fall plans – the things I intend to do, but somehow always manage to slip away because of my work busy season.

1. Take McKayla on a movie date with Todd

2. Take kids to Gardner Village to see the fall decor and witches (Take pics!)

3. Have a yard sale (I have all the stuff sitting in my basement ready to go)

4. Have a Sunday brunch at home with friends

5. Read a book (and actually make it to a book club for once)

6.Use crockpot recipes...and find more to use (since I'll be working so many hours)

7. Sit by fire pit on cool fall nights...smores, yummy :-)

8. Start to learn Spanish (we got Rosetta Stone)

9. Decorate pumpkins with kids/family/friends

10. Organize kids clothes (put away what no longer fits)

Here's a woohoo for the fall and hoping I can accomplish my list :-)

Johnson clan weekend

A bunch of the Johnson clan came up this way this past weekend to celebrate Grandma's 90th birthday. We had so much fun catching up with everyone, hiking, eating, playing and seeing our new niece Zoey. McKayla had a blast playing with her cousins and was on full speed all weekend. She also got to open a birthday gift from G&G Johnson early and have "Happy Birthday" sung to her. Bodie thought all the crazy people coming up and hugging/holding him were funny and he liked watching everyone and joining in the noise.

A typical night at our house

Bodie's army crawl

Bodie still prefers to army crawl over a traditional crawl...it looks like more work to me, but hey, that's the way he likes it :-)

Park City Weekend

Todd and I went up to Park City for a long weekend last weekend and had a fabulous grown up time. My parents watched the kids and Bodie did well for his 1st nights without Mom or Dad (he did wake up once each night, but went right back to sleep with a small bottle). They also got to ride the carousal and get ice cream with Paka and Gigi.
Back to me and Todd....we headed up to Park City on Friday and enjoyed a nice lunch on an outdoor patio. We then went to the Park City resort and looked around at all the summer activities they have. At that point we were ready to check in at the Park City hotel and when we got to our room we were in love. We had been to the hotel before in a friend's room, but to know we were going to relax in such a fabulous place all weekend was just grand. We headed down to the pool and checked out the spa facilities. At that point our friend's arrived so we hung out with them in their even nicer hotel room (his work paid for one of their best rooms with a jacuzzi on the porch). We went to a nice dinner that night with friends and then went back to another friends condo to play games and hung out. We decided to go back to the hotel and do some late night hot tubbing at our friends room and then run back to our hotel room like little kids in our robes and sandles from the hotel :-). The next couple days were filled with sleeping in, relaxing, hot tubbing, sauna, steam room, good food, pool time....it was all great!!
We must admit we were very excited to see the kiddos on Sunday afternoon though and Todd even treated us to dinner at Market Street that night :-). Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of us this weekend...momma was on vacation...but I did get some pics of the room and view from our room when we first arrived.

McKayla Swim Lessons

McKayla finished up her last swim lesson yesterday. She did great and the teacher said she thinks she'll continue to progress because she's very comfortable in the water and eager to learn. We're really proud of her for learning how to put her face in the water, float, scoop scoop, Mr. 1 Mr. 2, go from back to tummy, swim to the side and dive for objects :-). We love our little fishy!!

Weekend at the Cabin

Last weekend we went to my sis' in-laws cabin. My sis and her hubby were there along with his parents and mine...which made for a fun family weekend. Todd wasn't going to be able to join us b/c of work, but he actually made it up on Saturday night :-). The kids had a blast playing around the cabin, making smores, boating (although the poor things were so uncomfortable in their lifejackets), dancing and more. On Saturday night McKayla created a full on dance party in the basement with glow jewlery and everything. It was great to get away from the hustle and bustle and just enjoy the beautful scenery and time with the fam.
