Memorial Day BBQ

We decided to throw together a last minute BBQ at our house for Memorial Day. With around 15 adults and 8 kids it was a successful fun chaos :-). We are so grateful to the people who serve our country and allow us the freedom we have. We are especially proud of those in our family who have served...we love and honor you!

Meg Bday

Since we were at a friends wedding for the actual day Todd took me out for a nice breakfast that morning complete with good friends and a carafe of Mimosas. The day before my sweet friends ordered me a Sundae with a huge sparkler on top and a round of "Happy Birthday". I feel very lucky at 31 and I'm excited to see what the future brings :-).

Weekend in Tahoe

One of our best friends from college got married in Tahoe this past weekend. My parents were great enough to take the kids for us so that we could go enjoy and adult weekend (they even took them to YaYa and Papus cabin in Scofield were they got to play with the dogs, have dance parties, go 4-wheeling, play in YaYas makeup and have sleep overs). Todd and I enjoyed driving around North shore Tahoe and seeing freinds we haven't seen since our wedding. The weather was cold, but they still got their beach wedding and we couldn't be happier for Seth and Sarah :-).

Family/Friend Bday Dinner

I got to celebrate my bday with my fam last Sunday and had a nice relaxing evening. The weather was perfect so we were able to spend the time in my parent's beautiful yard. McKayla picked out the decor...Disney Princess...she was so excited (expecially about the Ariel card she got me because it sings the song I sing to her every night). I got a pedicure with lunch and day of shopping city creek from my sis, clothes and money from the parents and Ray Bans from my loves. It was a great night and I couldn't ask for better  people to share it with.
On Monday night my girlfriends took me to dinner at Trio and treated me with a mani/pedi GC and subscription to InStyle magazine. We even made a late night of it and went back to Kim's house for wine and the Bachelorette. Love those girls SO much!

McKayla had another observation class on Saturday so Bodie and I were able to go watch her and see all that she has learned this spring. I must admit it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch her...my little girl is growing up so fast :-)

Mothers Day

Todd had to leave for work at 6:45am on Sunday, but he still made the day very special for me. I woke up to McKayla bringing a large flower balloon to me and telling me we had to go on a hunt. She took me to find a bunch of pictures of me and the kids she and Todd had put around the house. Some had candy w/ them, some pics the kids had drawn on the back, one w/ flowers, and one with a VERY sweet note from Todd. Todd had also made the kids breakfast and left a mini bottle of champagne and HUGE chocolate strawberry in the fridge for me. The kids were really good for me at church and took long enough naps that I got to finish my book and get a little nap myself. We had some of Todd's family over for dinner which was really nice and relaxing and when they left we took a family walk around the block and hung out in the yard for awhile (the weather was PERFECT). I even got to watch a "mommy" show that night with no complaints :-). I truly coudln't have asked for a better day...the little gifts the kids made and Todd's thoughtfulness meant the world to me and made it a PERFECT day. As I held the kids that night I thought back to how my mom can make me feel...how her touch or words can soothe me and bring comfort and peace. I'm incredibly honored and blessed to be able to do that for my munchkins. Being a mom is the most demanding and most rewarding thing I have ever done and there is nothing more sweet than hearing someone call me "mommy". I remember my first words to Todd after each of the kids were born was "I love you" and I could never thank him enough for giving me these wonderful kids. I pray for them every night and I thank the Lord for trusting and blessing me with something so precious. I can only hope that I can be as great a mom as my mom, mother in law and grandmas have been.
