Busy little mommy

McKayla got all sorts of baby items for her birthday and has been such a busy little mommy since. She currently has 3 babies she is taking care of all the time and she's very good at it :-)

Dark Side

I went into my hairstylist on Saturday and said, "I need something different, but I'm not chopping off my hair...what can I do?". We decided on a color change for the colder months (darker brown with some red and blonde). It took 4 hours using a method called "melting" and my head was sore for a couple days, but it's kindu fun to have something different and I feel so "fallish" now. FYI-- I will definitely go back to being blonde after awhile...cause I LOVE being blonde and of course, blondes have the most fun :-) (Ive actually never been anything but blonde until now).

I realized I forgot to post about a fun day at our friend's the Blomquists. Their friends asked if they could set up this giant waterslide in their yard so they decided to have a few of us over for a water party. When I first saw the slide I thought it was too big for McKayla to do herself (Todd get ready to go), but she proved me wrong. Bodie enjoyed watching the bigger kids and chillin in his own little hot tub :-). Mom and Dad enjoyed kicking back with our friends and watching the kiddos have fun.

Bodie is now using this combination as a mode for transportation...army crawl, bum scoot, traditional crawl. He's also really pulling up on things now.

Well Bodie climbed his first stair last night...all in order to get his 1st piece of pizza (which WAS McKayla's). Not only did he love climbing the stair, but he also loved the piece of pizza and the 2 slices he had after that (he was enjoying it so much and chewing so well we couldn't resist when he wanted more). Such a true boy :-)

Bodie- 11 Months

Bodie is almost a year! He is more active than ever and still a happy and chill little guy. He still does the army crawl but has also added in bum scooting and pulling up on things along with clapping and waving. We haven't seen any more teeth yet, but he uses the 8 he has really well and can eat most table food. He hasn't found a food he doesn't like yet and graham crackers and yogurt are some of his favorites. He went to the eye doctor and everything looks great so no glasses like his sis. He is into absolutely everything now and we are constantly chasing him around the house (McKayla is great about helping with this too). He and McKayla are closer than ever and their favorite thing to do is crawl all over each other and make loud noises together. He also loves the dog and cat. His little laugh is so dang cute and very infectious and he does a new pucker face along with his big smile (crinkles the nose and puckers out the lips). He loves loves the water and splashing around (give him food or put him in water and he'll be happy for you). He's around 20 lbs now and just graduated to his big boy carseat. He still seems to like daycare and his teachers are so great with him. He gets very excited and jumpy when one of us comes home, he sees McKayla or we come to get him out of his crib (it totally makes us smile instantly). We love our little man more than words could ever express and we are having so much fun watching him learn and grow...he gets very proud when he does something new or something that gets our attention. He goes by the following names...Bode, Bodie, Bodie man, lil' man, monster, bodester

McKayla is 3!!!

Our sweet McKayla is 3 today! Just the other day she reminded me that she used to be in my belly when she was a baby and it made me smile and think about how quickly these past 3 years have gone and how much she has learned in those years. She is such a sweet little girl who tries to do the right thing and always wants to "be a good girl". She has gained a new independance that might conteract that want at times, but she gets over her fits quickly and comes up to say sorry and give a hug. She very genuinley cares about other people's feelings and will always try to make you feel better if you're hurt, sick or sad. When we leave for work she always wants a kiss and a hug. She is a great big sister always trying to include Bodie in what she's doing and sharing with him (even when she really doesn't want to share something she'll usually end up letting Bodie play with it...even her new birthday toys).
She absolutely LOVES to sing and dance and is always giving us performances and asking us to video tape her (she definitely knows how to throw poses for a picture too). Her favorite songs that we sing with her are "ABCs, twinkle little star, I'm a little teapot, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the bus, You are my sunshine and a few other songs I sing to her when she goes to bed (bedtime routine is brush teeth, read a few books, sing a song, hug and kiss goodnight). She also creates her own songs which are hilarious and include all of her friends and families names after "I love"...i.e. I love mommy, I love Daddy, I love Bodie, ect. She has a lot of energy and loves to play with other kids (she loves going to "school" to see her friends and when she sees other kids while we're out and about she says "Look, there's my friends"). She's really into reading and taking care of her babies as well as pretend play (making us meals and such). She'll happily recite her ABCs for us as well as count to 20. She's great about wearing her glasses although they have caused a few scratches from falls and bumps (they go nicely with the bruises all over her legs that come from being an active 3 year old). She loves to dress up and is very creative with her outfits. She also loves to have her nails painted and will show everyone and ask if they're pretty.
She loves to clean (hmm, wonder who she gets that from) and when she's doing something she'll make sure to get it just right and then say "That's perfect". When something happens that she didn't intend she'll say "shoot or darnit". Every morning when she gets up she comes out and says "Good Morning" loud and happy.
We love our Kayla Bear more than we could ever express and she has added so much to our lives. She makes us laugh and love more than we ever knew we could. Happy Birthday to our sweet, beautiful McKayla!!!!!!!
