The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays...it is what summer is all about. This year we spent the day in our neighborhood and had such a fun time. On Friday night, I tried to put the kids to bed early, but ended up watching awesome firework shows with McKayla from our bedroom windows.
On the 4th, we started off by going to the neighborhood breakfast where we were able to meet more neighbors and get some yummy food. TJ had to work so after playing outside for awhile, the kids and I went up to the Bird to see him and hang out (it was SO nice up there). We had dinner at my parents and then came back to our house for the neighborhood festivities. I have no words for the crazy fun that happened. There were families lining our street, kids running around everywhere and firework shows all around. At one time, I counted 8 shows going off within 2 blocks of us. On our actual street, two neighbors did shows...one went for 1 1/2 hours and the other went for 2 1/2 hours...this guy had music and everything to go with it. The best part was that Todd made it home in time to hang out and see the fireworks for awhile. We met so many more neighbors and had an ABSOLUTE blast. My parents said this is going to have to be an annual family thing now :-) and we very much agree.
On Sunday, we had a casual BBQ with friends at our house and it was the perfect way to end a fun filled weekend.
