Birthday Party & Ute Game

McKayla had another little friend turn 1 (Talen) and his parents through a football party for him. McKayla very much enjoyed the cake, the toys, playing with the other kids and showing off (lets just say when the video camera came out...McKayla was on...I had to pull her away so she wasn't in all of Talen's photos/videos. Todd enjoyed watching the Ute game and I enjoyed hanging out with all of our friends.

McKayla & Laelia

McKayla's cousin Laelia came over for a bit this week while her parents attented an event at Sugarhouse park. McKayla had so much fun showing Laelia all of her toys and copying everything her big cousin did (she's a few months older than Kayla). One of the funniest things was when Laelia had been sitting in McKayla's chair for awhile...Kayla decided to just go on over and sit on Laelia's lap. Laelia just kindu looked at her like...what in the world are you doing...but she took it well and didn't get upset. When I put Kayla's pjs on Laelia wanted hers on and when I fed Kayla her bottle before bed Laelia came and curled up next to me and started to fall asleep. It was so much fun watching the girls play together cause they don't get to see each other all too often.

Red Butte After Dark

We went to Red Butte Garden last night for their Halloween event "After Dark" with my parents. It was a pleasant night...not too cold and McKayla had a great time. Paka and Gigi bought her a wonderful light up star wand that she held the entire time. She also got to make a broom, pick out a pumpkin to take home and pick out mini corn on the cobs to take home (you can actually make popcorn with them if you want, but I'm going to use them for decor). I also got dinner and coffee out of the evenning..thanks Dad and Mom :-).

Every night before bed I make McKayla some rice cereal or oatmeal so she has a nice and full tummy for the night. I make it, go into the living room and sit on the floor and she comes bouncing behind me and sits on the floor in front of me (she thinks it's so fun to sit on the floor and eat rather than in her highchair...BTW she sits in her highchair for all other meals). Last night I put the bowl down and when Todd and I looked back she was licking it clean...it was so cute and funny. She licked it for a good 5 mintues or so laughing in between licks :-).

Gardner Village

One of my favortie places to go in the fall is Gardner Village. They have a bunch of cute shops and I love their Halloween decorations (they put up all these fun witches among other decor). Todd and I took McKayla on Saturday for a family outing and we had a great time. The weather was wonderful (70s) and we had so much fun going through the petting zoo with Kayla. She was mooing at the pigs but then she wouldn't moo at the baby calf...oh well...at least when you ask her what a cow says, she says "moooo" :-).

Cabo trip

Well we did it...we took our first trip away from McKayla. I think Todd was pretty proud of how well I did. Don't get me wrong...it was sooo hard and I had teary eyes when we left, when I saw other kids in the airport, when the plane took off, when my parents sent pics to us of her, when I saw other kids at the resort, when I heard her voice on the phone...you get the idea. Anyway, it was tough but Todd and I really enjoyed being together and getting some relax time. I have to give my parents a HUGE thank you for watching Kayla while we were gone and my sis and soon to be bro in law for watching our animals and house.
We went to Cabo for a friends wedding and it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding. They had it at the One and Only Palmilla which is a gorgeous resort (Emeril and Bill Gates were there while we were). It stormed the last day and a half we were there, but we still got time in the pool and on the beach. We got drenched taking a walk on the beach and decided to sit in the hot tub during the rain (don't worry...there wasn't any lightening). Todd played golf with the guys on Saturday and I lounged by the pool and people watched. Everyone was so nice and the Westin (where we stayed) was awesome.
It was a short vacation, but it was a lot of fun and we definitely enjoyed the wedding!
