Fun Family Weekend

Todd and I decided we needed a fun family weekend so we both took last Friday off. We wanted to get out and just spend time as a family since we knew life is gonna get really crazy really fast (many weddings, showers, birthdays, babies, ect. coming up).
On Friday Todd went out for a bike ride in the morning (I know, not family oriented, but he deserved it after doing the hardwood floor all last week) and McKayla and I chilled around the house. That night we went to the Motorcross and had a great time watching all the dirt bike races (I just kept saying..Todd, you really do this kind of stuff???!!!!). McKayla had a really fun time and especially loved her churro, popcorn, Rocky the Racoon and her glow in the dark bracelet he gave her. We tried to wait it out for the fireworks show, but finally gave up at 10:45pm...seriously, who does fireworks that late?!
On Saturday our neighborhood had a parade to celebrate Pioneer Day (a Utah thing). McKayla rode in her wagon and then they had breakfast for us. After breakfast a firetruck came down to the neighborhood and sat in the street spraying everyone for awhile...the kids thought it was great! We then took Sadie out to Tanner Park (can't believe I survived it in the heat), stopped by my parents to say "Happy Anniversary" and met up with friends that night for The Canyons summer concert. We had such a blast at the concert...I chilled all lazylike on the blanket and McKayla and Todd danced the night away. It was really good to hang out and catch up with some friends.
On Sunday Todd took Sadie to Tanner Park again and then we headed up to East Canyon to swim in the lake. We met some friends and my sis & Nick up there at this fabulous little spot and had a great time! The water felt refreshing and McKayla absolutely loved playing in it. We headed down after and went to our friends house for a BBQ where McKayla went in the kiddie pool (she's a little fishy these days) and proceeded to eat almost an entire can of Pringles. Again, it was soo nice to relax and catch up with our friends.
We set out to have a fun weekend and we succeeded! It was so nice to just focus on "us" and really enjoy each other's company. I absolutely love our little family and baby boy is gonna complete us in the perfect way ;-)

Master Bedroom

One project we really wanted to get done before the baby comes was the hardwood floor in our master bedroom. Sooo, my wonderful, fabulous, awesome hubby ripped up the carpet last weekend and went to work. The hardwood underneath was in great condition and he made it look absolutely beautiful! He worked literally night and day all week to get this done and it couldn't look better!!! Here are some pictures for those that won't get by anytime soon (please ignore the ugly blue blanket on the bed...it saves our comforter from the animals).

McKayla was such a big help!

Mommy's Sad Day

McKayla's babysitter (a family friend) that she's been going to since she was 5 months had her baby on Friday so McKayla started her new daycare today. It's a great place and I know she'll have fun, but thinking of the first few transitional days breaks my heart...she doesn't know anyone there, will the other kids be nice, will she know who she can go to if she's sad, hurt, tired, ect.????? I cried a ton last night and a bunch this morning :-(. I was putting her to bed last night and telling her all about her big day coming up and just started crying...she grabbed my head in her little hands and gave me a big kiss, hug and then snuggled into my shoulder...she knew only she could make me feel better. Todd said she did really well this morning when he took her in and she waved bye to him as he left. I called a few hours later and they said she'sdoing great...happy, no tears or complaints, ate all her lunch. I know it'll get easier for mommy, but for today I'm struggling and I absolutely cannot wait to go pick her up! I love my little girl more than words could ever express and she is so much of the sunshine, laughter and happiness in my life...I will never be able to tell her exactly how much she means to me!

Wedding Shower

I threw a wedding shower for my sister this weekend with my mom's friend, Betty. We did a garden theme on Saturday morning in Betty's backyard and had a great turnout! Jacquelyn had a lot of fun and got so many great gifts (perfect for her new house). The weather was perfect and it was so much fun to get together and celebrate the upcoming wedding :-)

Betty's husband had this fun "toy" he let McKayla play on

McKayla Update

We got a diagnosis this morning of Roseola (viral infection). McKayla's fever went away and she developed a rash...the signs of this infection. Soo happy it's over and our baby is feeling better!

Grandma Visits

Todd's mom came to stay with us for a couple nights last week. We had such a fun time while she was here...McKayla pulled her around everywhere, told her to sit by her every time she sat down, went on walks and played on the swing. McKayla was calling her YaYa (Grandma in Greek) the whole time. It was great seeing McKayla with her Grandma and we can't wait for her to come back when the baby is born!

Grandma thought this was funny (Todd taught her this)

4th of July 2010

We had a good and bad 4th this year...on Saturday we went to a neighborhood parade and celebration with some of my friends and their kiddos. McKayla waved at all the people in the parade and she especially loved when the police rode by on their motorcycles. She also absolutely loooved the bouncy houses and everytime we thought the big kids were going to scare her by getting a little to rough she would start laughing and jumping even more. Todd had to work that night so McKayla and I hung out and satyed up late to watch the fireworks ( I even figured out we can see the Sugarhouse ones from our backyard). On Sunday we went up to Park City for their parade. Todd again had to go to work after so McKayla and I went over to my parents for dinner and Paka did little fireworks for McKayla...she got to throw the poppers and very much enjoyed it. I noticed that she hadn't been acting quite like herself and felt hot to the touch so I took her home early and put her to bed. Todd got off early and when he got home I told him I was worried about her. I went in to check on her and she was burning up...head,legs,abdomen, back, everything. I took her temp and it was 104.5. I thought it couldn't be right so I tried 3 more times and got the same result. We decided the right thing to do was take her to the ER (she had Tylenol earlier so that temp after medicine was scary). They did all sorts of tests (including a catheter which I totally cried through cause she was crying) and all came out negative. Her temp was 103.5 when we got to the ER, but dropped to 98.6 by the time they discharged us (they had given her Ibuprofen). They talked to the doctor on call at our pediatricians office and he said to have her come in on Monday morning. The next morning her temp was back up to 102...we took her to the doctor and he concluded it must be a virus b/c all the cultures were negative. They want to see her again this week and told us to keep her temp down w/ medicine and keep a close eye on her. Along with her scare I had some bad episodes of braxton hicks this weekend...ones that actually layed me down...so although we had fun, it was also a tough and scary weekend (can we get a redo?).
Down she goes...with no fear
