Bodie- 9 Months

Little man turns, scoots, rolls and army crawls to get wherever he wants. We have tried showing him how to crawl, but he just looks at us and laughs :-). He loves to stand up and seems more interested in that...especially doing it on his own holding onto the couch or table. He definitely has a voice...if he's really excited he'll squeal and shout and if he's mad at you he'll just shout (this tends to happen when we or McKayla take something he's playing with). When he's really mad he'll say "MA,MA,MA" in a loud, mad tone...I'm not quite sure why it's come out at me, but "Da,Da" is always in a happy and fun tone...oh well, I know he loves me :-). He uses his body a lot to show excitement too...flapping his arms and bouncing up and down. He has 8 teeth now and we think more are coming in. This means he is chewing on EVERYTHING and drooling all the time, but it also helps him to do his favorite thing...EAT. This boy loves everything and he is so happy when he eats. He's eating all sorts of veggies and fruits now as well as meat and cheeses. He loves having little snack crackers and what not too. The only thing we seem to have an issue with is oatmeal b/c we think he's allergic to it. His favorite thing to do now when he eats is spit it out...oh yes, he thinks it's so funny when he gets bright colored food all over mommy, daddy and himself. His skin has gotten better as long as we keep up on it, but if we don't he still gets excema in spots. He has a little bit more fuzz on his head although it's blonde so you still have to look close to see (good thing he has a nice round head). He's still a very happy and well natured baby and he loves to play with people and other kids. He's also very good at playing by himself for awhile. He's sleeping really well in his bed downstairs...usually from 7ish-6ish and he wakes up smiling and happy. Bodie and McKayla still love each other and have so much fun together! One of my favorite things is the big slobbery kisses he'll give us on our cheeks and when he gets shy and buries his head in my shoulder. He knows that people are strangers now and he'll get a little shy at first, but he opens up quickly and doesn't cry or anything. He is now 18lbs 11oz and 28 3/8 inches.

4th of July 2011

Is it really over already? I feel like summer has just begun, but I'm already thinking about fall and my work busy season :-(. Anyway, we had a great weekend full of family, friends, fun and fireworks. On Friday the kids and I had a water playdate at our house with my besties and their kiddos. It was so nice to just sit in the warm backyard and let the kids play around while we caught up with eachother. On Saturday we headed up to Todd's sis' house in Logan where I co-hosted a babyshower for my sis-in-law and cousin. It was really chaotic for those of us hosting (a lot of which had to do with the fact that we both had 2 kids to watch cause the Dad's went to the carshow), but everyone had a great time and the girls got some really cute stuff. That night we went to the car parade in Logan to see all the awesome old cars, have a shake and enjoy the weather. Once it was over we went up to our bro-in-laws farm in Idaho and spent the night there. McKayla was having the best time up there and she couldn't get enough of her cousins (they stayed up til 11pm!). In the morning we went out to see some of the animals (horses, cows, kittens, rats...ya know). McKayla had asked for elephants and giraffes, but oddly enough we couldn't find any ;-). We went on a hike up Logan canyon with the fam after that and a BBQ at Todd's aunts house before heading home to yet another BBQ in SLC at our friends house (where McKayla proceeded to get down to her skivies with her friend and spray each other with the hose while Bodie flirted with his little 7 month girlfriend). We went home after that and put Bodie to bed, but let McKayla stay up to see the fireworks and play with some glow bracelets I got her (thank you to Utah for legalizing the arials...now we get lots of free shows from our front yard). Monday morning we were supposed to go to a parade with friends, but little miss slept in and we got there right as it ended (not that we were complaining). They did have games and a bounce house there so McKayla got to enjoy that. We went to lunch with Todd's parents after that before they left for the airport and then went swimming with a bunch of friends. Monday night we watch the big Sugarhouse firework show from our friends house and had a great summer night. We are all quite tired from all the activities and I think McKayla lost her glasses (those suckers were $400 so it's a huge bummer), but we had so much fun spending time together and the 4th will always be one of my favorite holidays!! ***UPDATE: found the glasses in our friends driveway...had been run over a few times...BUMMER!

Gerogia- Hey ya'll

We had a great time in Georgia for my Aunt's wedding. I was already in Florida for work so Todd, the kids and my fam met me in Georgia on Thursday. Bodie did really well on his 1st flight and McKayla was soooo excited to fly in the airplane. She had her cute little backpack packed with fun things and loved watching the movies on the plane and playing with her Paka,Gigi, Nonnie,Uncle Nick and Uncle Scotty. I hadn't seen the fam since that Sunday so when they got to the hotel I ran down as fast as I could and scooped the kiddos in my arms. I loved seeing their faces and getting big hugs and kisses!!!! My Aunts wedding was really pretty and was at a restored plantation. The rehearsal dinner was at a cute little place back in the woods and had a fun garden to walk around. My Aunt and her husband have a lake house that we were able to all hang out at and go kayaking, play ladderball, lounge around and almost step on snakes (yes, I almost stepped on a HUGE black and yellow snake...within less than a foot...I can't believe I didn't faint). We also got to go into Atlanta for a few hours and check out the Aquarium as well as go to Juliette and have Fried Green Tomatoes (this is where they filmed the movie). It was so nice to spend time with family and I absolutely love that our kids are getting to know their great-grandparents so well :-). The plane ride home was a bit more interesting since Bodie and I both had a stomache bug...I held it together, but poor Bodie got sick all over the back of the plane and then all over Todd :-(. Needless to say we were happy when we finally got home :-)

McKayla's 1st Haircut

At 2 1/2 McKayla got her first real haircut. I debated between taking her to my girl or one of those kiddie places, but when I get something in my head that I want to do, I have to do it now...so we went to one Cookie Cutters by our house. She really still doesn't have a lot of hair to cut, but it needed to be trimmed and evened up. She LOVED the place. She played on the slide and then got to pick out a movie to watch while she got her hair cut (she of course picked Handy Manny). She got to sit in the car chair and wear the penguin smock. The girl trimmed the back and gave me some to save and then trimmed the front a little. McKayla asked for a "pony" so the girl gave her a quick blowdry with a round brush and a cute pony in the front. McKayla then got to pick out a sucker and a balloon. She absolutely loved the experience and although $13 seems steep for a kids trim it really was fun to see her be such a big girl :-) and they treated her so sweet!

Bodie- 8 Months

Bodie is 8 months now and definitely has a personality of his own! He LOVES to eat and will eat almost everything we give him. He's especially loved adding in the little puffs and other finger foods. The poor little guy got pretty sick this last month between teething (he's getting 4 new teeth), the flu and a cold but he didn't lose any weight b/c he's an eating machine :-). He's about 18.5 lbs now. He isn't full blown crawling yet, but he does the army crawl, backward crawl or rolls to get where he wants to go. I finally gave in and put him downstairs in his crib (rather than our room) and he has loved it. He sleeps really well down there and definitely likes having more room to roll around. He's still a very happy and smiley baby and can enterain himself for long periods of time. He will let you know when he is mad though...he will yell out at you and get all sorts of huffy (this usually occurs when I take something away that I don't want him to have). He still loves playing with McKayla and they are sooo funny together! He has really started copying what she does and it is the greatest thing in the world to see them communicating with each other and playing their own games together. Their favorite is laying on their backs and throwing their legs up in the air and then bringing them down to hear the loud "thud". He's saying mamma and dadda to the "right" person and has many other baby noises he likes to make (he and McKayla also love to growl together...they think it's SO funny). He still likes daycare and the two woman that watch him there love him (they snatch him right out of my arms when I get there to give him hugs and cuddles). I seriously can't believe he is already hitting these milestones...I swear he was just born, but it's so fun to watch him grow and learn and we are trying to take in every moment of it :-). Oh yeah, many of our friends claim he is already a ladies man...the kid seriously already flirts with all the ladies...doesn't matter the age...his age, my age...we're in SO much trouble :-0

P.S. Pics will be coming soon...I got professional ones done and am just waiting to get them back
