Projects around the house

Painted our plain, black J in the entry way lighter and mounted it on a painted black board. Added iron scroll to top. Much better :-)
Above our bed...that's where it all started

Jewelry organization (I've needed to do this forever)

Where the watches go (well, all but my favorite one...that's above)

Actually found an unused shelf in the house that was perfect for displaying (this means I'll actually wear more of what I have since I can see it)

Funny how you find storage solutions in the most unexpected places...functional and it makes the area much prettier :-)

New way to store makeup brushes...just needed a jar and coffee beans. Love that they don't touch now and the cupboard smells so yummy!

A little different direction

I always have a lot on my mind at the end of the day and don't want to forget some of the simple things that happened. I started this blog as a way to keep family and friends who don't live near us updated on the kiddos and such, but it really is more of a journal for me. Since I print it at the end of each year and hope that the kids will have fun looking through it one day I'd like to do more posts...different posts....capture more than just those big moments. Doing the dinner and breakfast posts this week was really fun and that's what happens every day. It's more of a committment on my part because I will have to get on and actually blog about those simple things, but at the end of the day I know I will be grateful that I have done it :-). So be prepared...more pictures and thoughts to come from now on ;-)

A wonderful Night...

We had such a wonderful night last night...it really seemed like there was something magical in the air. It was bitter cold outside, but warm in the house...it was like it was glowing. I turned on some Nora Jones and made homemade pizza for the fam. Sitting in the dining room enjoying the pizza, a glass of wine, Nora and my family was perfect. We topped off the night with peppermint ice cream, a cookie and Modern Family :-)

Yummy tomatos basking in a marinade

Up, Up, Up

Finally got some pics of our lil' stinker in action...

Halloween 2011

We had my work party on Friday which was filled with trick-or-treating, goodie bag making, picture taking, and bobbing for donuts. On Saturday, McKayla's friend Talen had a costume b-day party filled with fun activities, friends and cake. Sunday, Dad and Mom got to go out on a date with our friends the Simpsons at the Copper Onion...then Market Street for dessert (so fun and relaxing!) and on Monday, we trick-or-treated at a couple neighbors houses and then went to the Simpsons for a fun Halloween party and trick-or-treating. We all had such a great time and it was really fun to watch the kids really get into it this year!! I really think this was my best Halloween yet :-)
