Words could never express how blessed I feel to be a Mom. I knew my whole life that I wanted children, but never could have imagined how amazing it would be to watch a little life unfold before my eyes. A life that Todd and I created together. It's also the hardest thing I have ever done...the times when I am beyond exhaustion or worried sick about the kids or worried I'm making the wrong decision on something. Then they give me a big hug or accomplish something new and those hard times fade away (and this can be on a daily basis). I will never be able to express to the kids how much I love them or how much they mean to me...they will only know when they have children of their own and discover a love they never knew could be. They will also know that I am truly trying every moment of every day to guide them the right way, make the right decisions and help them to be whatever it is they are meant to be. I have always been a spiritual person, but the moment McKayla was born, my faith took a new turn. With Bodie, it was confirmed and renewed...and I have never looked back. I am so grateful to be Todd's wife...which in turn gave me two amazing children and a life that I will always thank God for at the end of each day (and so many moments in between).
I saw this quote and really felt the truth in it for how I feel about being a Mother...
What you really want, desperately, wildly, in spite of everything--is for them to remember the good...to remember enough of the times you whispered, "I love you"...to know how many times you broke your heart and how hard you really tried. All you want? Is for them to feel a deep sense of safety, that they are safe to trust people, safe to dream large, safe to believe, safe to try, safe to love large and go fly--and you need to know that you haven't wrecked that. That they feel the certain, tender embrace of your love--in spite of all the storming times you acted unlovely. So...SomeOne? Could someone just wrap up...a bit of Grace? What every mother wants, her most unspoken need--is a truckload of Grace."
