McKayla is 8!!!!

Well, we blinked again and our sweet Kayla Bear turned 8. She is such a light in our lives and we can't believe how much she has grown in just a year. Here are 8 facts about Kayla...

- She LOVES to draw, color, create with Lego Friends and collect things
- She is a great big sis and takes care of Bodie when he needs help
- She has come farther in her gymnastics/tumbling this year than ever before and love it
- She says her favorite subjects are math, reading and art
- She loves dressing up whenever she can...lip gloss, purse, jewelry, ect.
- She was a little fish this summer and absolutely LOVES swimming and the diving board
- She is a social butterfly and loves being with her friends
- She's a morning girl and we rarely ever have to wake her up for school

McKayla has really blossomed into her own this year. She has become much more independent and she likes to do things on her own. You will catch her tumbling, listening to music, watching youtube videos on the ipad, singing and drawing every day. Her friendships are important to her and she loves going to school. She has a kind heart and was chosen by her teacher to go help the special needs children at school during their gym time. She can be stubborn and we've seen more in terms of her "figuring life out", but  she will come to us for love and hugs in the end. She has a strong sense of faith and is always happy to do the mealtime or family prayer (this sense of faith is what keeps momma from "worrying" too much as she gets older and allowing her to branch out). This year she is excited to go through her first communion in church. We love McKayla more than we could ever ever express and we feel incredibly blessed to be her parents. Bodie man loves his "DeeDee" too!!
She still has me sing 2 songs to her every night "You are my Sunshine" and "Skita Ma Rink"

8 years ago on cool fall evening our sweet girl was born

Bodie- 1st Day of Kindergarten

Bodie has been excited for the 1st day of Kindergarten since the first day of summer! He woke up extra early the day of and could hardly fall asleep the night before. He was beyond excited to ride the bus with Kayla and his friends for the first time and is super happy about his teacher (she seems like a hoot!). I'm not sure if it's because this is my last kiddo going off or I'm jut being emotional, but I was a wreck the night before...there were definitely tears shed and many prayers being said. The day of I actually had a sense of peace and calm so I knew my prayers were being answered and everything would be great.
Bodie had a wonderful first day and told me he wished it had been longer. He rode the kindergarten bus home without Kayla or his neighbor friends and it went well. We feel so happy and blessed to have him in a wonderful school along with so many great friends and fabulous teachers. We just know this will be a great year for him and a wonderful way to kick-off his school years :-).
He had to turn in this "All about me" poster on his first day
He wanted homemade pizza for his back to school dinner

"K" for Kindergarten on Bodie's :-)

He told us at dinner that he was most excited for the bus and meeting new friends
For breakfast, he chose waffles with syrup

McKayla 8th B-day Party

Kayla wanted a Hawaiian swim party this year and wanted to keep it smaller...it worked out perfect. We had wonderful weather and practically had the pool to ourselves. She had some of her closest friends there along with some family. We enjoyed swimming, pizza, donuts and playing on the lawn followed by most of the girls ending up at our house for a couple more hours because they didn't want the party to end. We are so grateful for the wonderful friends Kayla has!

Some gymnastics on the lawn
