Non & Nick's Couples Shower

On Saturday night we went to Scott and Sylvia's house (Nick's parents) for a couple's shower in honor of Jacquelyn and Nick. Everyone had a lot of fun and the countdown to the wedding has definitely begun :-). Sylvia (or YaYa as Kayla calls her) even had a pinata for the kiddos (McKayla wacked it so hard the 3rd time she tried the body fell off the head...daddy would be so proud).

Cannon's Visit

Before the yuck flu hit us we did have a great time when Todd's sister and her 3 kids came to stay with us for a night. It was a short trip, but we enjoyed dinner and play time as well as the farmers market and Pei Wei lunch with them. McKayla had an absolute blast with them and was laughing and squealing soooo much!!!! It made us so happy to see her with her cousins, but it also made us sad because she only gets to see them a couple times a year...hopefully some time in the future that will change.

The Flu...AGAIN! :-(

Ok, seriously...apparently someone decided the flu hadn't hit our house enough this year so we went through it again this past weekend. I got a pretty mild case of it Friday and Saturday and then McKayla came down with it Saturday night (and is still battling it). We've become such experts now that there wasn't even a drop on her clothing or bedding. I have said it before and will say it again...I HATE seeing my baby sick!!!!! I just broke down in tears Saturday night while holding her...all I could think is "why her again?!". She's a healthy active little girl and she needs to keep growing...not get all these set backs in her weight. Ugh, sorry for the vent, but I'm really done with this and feel like McKayla has had way more than her fair share. Please say a prayer for our little babe :-).

McKayla's New Daycare

McKayla is doing so well at her new daycare (school is what we call it with her)...mommy is still struggling. She hasn't had any issues and seems to really enjoy herself when she's there (she gets play time, music time, snacks, lunch, breakfast, water time, outside time, craft time...you name it). She sings a song to me from "school" every day when we drive home and she's so talkative. Today was my first day that I had to drop her off and I definitely cried...it's also the first week that she has to start going full-time (I'm in my busy season for work now and can't do Tuesday & Thursday from home). She's just sooo tired from all the activity all day (and she doesn't sleep as long there) so Tuesdays and Thursdays were her days to take a long nap (I'm talking 3 1/2-4 hours) to catch up. I know she'll adjust and I'm sure she'll start taking the full 2 hour nap there, but I'm a mom...and I worry about my baby. I hate being away from her more, but I know in just a couple months I'll get to spend some great months at home with her and the baby. Until then...I'm constantly thinking about her and wondering how she's doing. The best part of my day is definitely when I get to pick her up!!!!!

Couples shower for G & T

This past Saturday we helped throw a couple's shower for our friends Garrett and Tonia. We had so much fun and it was nice to have a grown-up party with our friends. We got rained on a little bit, but the cooler air felt great and nobody seemed to mind a little water. Can't wait for the big day!

Fun Family Weekend

Todd and I decided we needed a fun family weekend so we both took last Friday off. We wanted to get out and just spend time as a family since we knew life is gonna get really crazy really fast (many weddings, showers, birthdays, babies, ect. coming up).
On Friday Todd went out for a bike ride in the morning (I know, not family oriented, but he deserved it after doing the hardwood floor all last week) and McKayla and I chilled around the house. That night we went to the Motorcross and had a great time watching all the dirt bike races (I just kept saying..Todd, you really do this kind of stuff???!!!!). McKayla had a really fun time and especially loved her churro, popcorn, Rocky the Racoon and her glow in the dark bracelet he gave her. We tried to wait it out for the fireworks show, but finally gave up at 10:45pm...seriously, who does fireworks that late?!
On Saturday our neighborhood had a parade to celebrate Pioneer Day (a Utah thing). McKayla rode in her wagon and then they had breakfast for us. After breakfast a firetruck came down to the neighborhood and sat in the street spraying everyone for awhile...the kids thought it was great! We then took Sadie out to Tanner Park (can't believe I survived it in the heat), stopped by my parents to say "Happy Anniversary" and met up with friends that night for The Canyons summer concert. We had such a blast at the concert...I chilled all lazylike on the blanket and McKayla and Todd danced the night away. It was really good to hang out and catch up with some friends.
On Sunday Todd took Sadie to Tanner Park again and then we headed up to East Canyon to swim in the lake. We met some friends and my sis & Nick up there at this fabulous little spot and had a great time! The water felt refreshing and McKayla absolutely loved playing in it. We headed down after and went to our friends house for a BBQ where McKayla went in the kiddie pool (she's a little fishy these days) and proceeded to eat almost an entire can of Pringles. Again, it was soo nice to relax and catch up with our friends.
We set out to have a fun weekend and we succeeded! It was so nice to just focus on "us" and really enjoy each other's company. I absolutely love our little family and baby boy is gonna complete us in the perfect way ;-)

Master Bedroom

One project we really wanted to get done before the baby comes was the hardwood floor in our master bedroom. Sooo, my wonderful, fabulous, awesome hubby ripped up the carpet last weekend and went to work. The hardwood underneath was in great condition and he made it look absolutely beautiful! He worked literally night and day all week to get this done and it couldn't look better!!! Here are some pictures for those that won't get by anytime soon (please ignore the ugly blue blanket on the bed...it saves our comforter from the animals).

McKayla was such a big help!
